Who We Are

LCJE is networking Jewish Evangelism by creating a platform where people involved in the field of Jewish ministry can come together and:

· Share information and resources
· Study current trends
· Stimulate one another's thinking on theological and missiological issues
· Strategize on a global level so that more Jewish people will hear and consider the Good News of Jesus
· Arrange conferences that will be useful to those engaged in Jewish evangelism

How did LCJE begin?

LCJE developed out of the worldwide Lausanne Movement.

For over 40 years, the Lausanne Movement has ‘set the table’ and convened leaders for a number of global gatherings and catalytic networks that, by God’s grace, have impacted the scope of world missions.

Today Lausanne continues to fulfill its unique calling to connect leaders across regions, issues, and generations to collaboratively and prayerfully work toward the advancement of the gospel.

In 1980, The Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (LCWE) sponsored the Consultation on World Evangelization (COWE) in Pattaya, Thailand. "Reaching Jews" was one of the 17 mini-consultation groups at that event. The enthusiasm of the leaders in the field of Jewish evangelism who attended to expand the network gave rise to the formation of a task force, now called the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE).

What has happened since?

LCJE has since 1983 met for international consultations every 3-4 years. The different LCJE chapters have met on a regular basis. There are chapters in North America, Europe, Israel, South Africa, AustralAsia, Japan, and Latin America. To find the contact information on the different Area Coordinators see here. For papers from the different conferences go to Papers.

The quarterly LCJE Bulletin is published to keep its members up to date on what is happening in between consultations.

The Basis of LCJE

LCJE is part of the Lausanne Movement and has as its basis the Lausanne Covenant. Members have to be in substantial agreement with the Lausanne Covenant.
